Ropes & Gray

Ropes & Gray came to One North with the task of undergoing a full site redesign. From Discovery work to Define & Design, my work consisted of different activities. Some of the activities included: site auditing, stakeholder interviews, creating user personas, stakeholder surveys, and a lot of wireframing. View the live site here.

01
Discovery

Having been over 10 years since a redesign, Ropes & Gray set out to do an entire site redesign and rebuild from the bottom up. As the UX Designer on this project, my responsibilities consisted of creating Discovery readout decks, site auditing, creating user personas, recommending a brand new information architecture, and creating the wireframes and strategy for the website.

Lateral Recruit Persona

During the Discovery Phase, we had the opportunity to conduct Partner interviews to help us understand nuances of the existing Ropes & Gray site as well as getting a sense of the different users they see coming to the site. Although we weren’t able to conduct any user interviews, the Partner interviews helped us gain insight into the different users that come to the site and what they do once they are there. Using information gathered from these interviews, I was able to put together user personas to help my work as I transitioned into working on the information architecture and wireframes for the site.

At the conclusion of the Discovery Phase, a readout deck was put together which walked Ropes & Gray through all of our activities conducted as well as the takeaways we would be carrying forward onto the Design Phase. Once the Define & Design Phase began, activities switched from a more research and information gathering approach to being actively involved with the client and working through solutions with them. In this phase, the key notable deliverables were the Information Architecture and the Wireframes that were presented to the client.

Wireframes

Once the proposed IA was approved by the client, the next step was the fun part — assembling the wireframes and problem solving the pain points that we encountered during the Discovery Phase and conversations that we had with the client. The wireframing was broken out into 3 sprints with the following structure:
