FRNSH’d
Generating ideas is easy, but turning them into reality poses challenges. FRNSH’d simplifies both processes seamlessly. Understanding the frustrations of home furnishing, we tackle obstacles like budget constraints, lack of product awareness, and conceptualizing. By leveraging generative AI, FRNSH’d guides users to envision and execute their interior design dreams effortlessly.
FRNSH’d targets owners or renters with a vision, interior design enthusiasts, and individuals in their mid-20s to late 40s, providing them with the tools to conceptualize and execute their ideas from their fingertips.
01
The Process
The goal when thinking about this project was to create something that would empower users to digitally create and visualize their interiors and take actionable steps to make digitizations into a reality. There are retailers and providers who often have their own app where users are able to use their phones, and using AR, they can see what certain furniture pieces would look like in a given space. FRNSH’d aims to take that concept but scale it towards being more inclusive of all retailers and providers while putting more power in the hands of the user.
This proposed solution aims to use an image of rooms provided by the user, and then the app, using AI-driven technology, will generate room layouts based on the reference images uploaded by the user. Along with the generated image, the user will be provided a product list with direct links to purchase the products shown in the image. The user can now visualize their aesthetic and take action items to get closer to their dream interior. Our users can set their budget per room, ensuring the visualizations they see are realistic and possible, not just aspirations.
Putting power into the user’s hands is accomplished by allowing users to curate different moodboards for their rooms. The moodboard feature allows users to upload images of products, areas, or general pictures that match their certain aesthetic. As the user curates their moodboard, FRNSH’d will take that data and generate images that are in line with what the user’s aesthetic is. If a user is unsure what their house aesthetic is and is caught between different directions, they can have a moodboard for each of their ideas and FRNSH’d will generate visuals accordingly.

The Solution
Intro + Room Setup
Demonstrating the flow of how users enter the app and are prompted to begin creating their rooms. Users are prompted to either take a picture of their space or upload one from their gallery. From there, they just have to set their desired aesthetic they are wanting to achieve with that room and specify the budget. These answers directly affect the visual generations users are given.
FRNSH My Room
This flow outlines the key features of the app. Users can select a room they've created and then choose to furnish it ("FRNSH"), view moodboards, saved layouts, and product lists. Upon generating a visualization, users see the total furnishing cost and can explore different aesthetics. They can then view categories of furniture/products placed in the space, with highlighted items for clarity. Users can add products to their cart, save them, or explore similar items.
Favorites + Cart
FRNSH’d simplifies the furnishing process by allowing users to save their progress and products for easy access. Products are automatically organized into categories. When ready to purchase, users can do so directly through the app, streamlining purchasing, shipping, and billing. FRNSH’d offers a wide catalogue from various providers, consolidating purchases into one convenient platform, even if products are sourced from different providers.

Future Considerations
From an experience and feature standpoint, one of the things that can introduced as a feature for users is the ability for users to see products from the “View Similar Products” listing in the visual generation. Currently the app gives the user a list of similar products without any real way for them to see if the similar product would look any good in their space with the other furniture in the generation.
From a business consideration, FRNSH’d is aiming to tackle a lot of problems and handle a lot of logistics. For that to happen, an income structure needs to be considered. For FRNSH’d to make money, the following routes present themselves as an opportunity:
Paid App / Subscription Based
The app itself is a paid app. This guarantees revenue, but introduces a significant barrier to entry for prospective users.
The app itself could be free, with different features becoming available with different subscription tiers (e.g. free subscription gives you the ability to AI-generate one specific room of your choice. To unlock additional rooms / your entire house, a full subscription is required.)
2. Solely Ad-Based / Sponsored Listings
FRNSH’d remains a completely free to use app with all functionalities enabled for all of our users. Our consistent stream of revenue instead comes from the retailers and vendors who want to appear at the top of the “recommended” or “similar products” list.
Our AI-generated images only display actual products that various different retailers and vendors sell. The more $$$ retailers pay us, the more preference our AI-generated images give their products (e.g. Pottery Barn consistently gives us $15,000/month and for every 5 images users generate, 2 are guaranteed to be a Pottery Barn product. IKEA consistently gives us $3,500/month and for every 20 images users generate, 3 are guaranteed to be an IKEA product).
Moving forward, FRNSH’d could expand beyond the residential space and creep into the commercial space. The interior aesthetic of small business sometimes is what gets consumers through the front door. Every photo-op opportunity or aesthetic heavy interior that’s provided to users inside the space is a way for that business to be marketed through social media and word of mouth. The same exact features and process could be applied to a commercial space rather than a residential place.
